'Big Dick.'

A  large cumbersome man, an inspiration..........
'Big Dick' is 90 years old now.....

If you are ever on Big Pine Key and look around you may see him.......
driving around the island in his Silver Kia Soul... why he can still turn it on a dime.

or you may see him on his giant tricycle.....wearing enormous sunglasses..
he has giant ears and a Hawk nose.........

We have bumped into each other over the years a lot of times... maybe in the grocery store or wherever...  he reminded me of when I used to push my daughters around in the grocery  carts.....and we would chat... over the years.......

He told me... sometimes he lays in bed now and just laughs out loud when he recalls to himself and the Universe when he thinks of growing up in Central Mass. in a 5 bedroom farm house..

He is a stone mason by trade you know?

'Big Dick'

Was reminiscing  about the birthing of a calf in the family barn... and then weaning it off the tit... by putting his finger up in the bottom of the pail full of milk......... how quickly the calf gave up nursing.

and..... the picking of blueberry's that filled an entire washtub...

and then the selecting and grading of them....

and the room downstairs that every year, just about had the squawking of a new baby....sibling....

A simpler time.....

I reminded him he has lived across a Chasm of time concerning the industrial revolution.

He paused:

He said when they were kids they did not care.......... he remarked... they were always occupied... and never knew any different.

I told him for whatever reason.... the he was an inspiration of a man......

Yes...... Richard......   tough as nails...... 'Big Dick'.....
